I purchased the DXG 567V Value Pack at Walmart for $30 plus tax (on clearance) - for the price it is an Excellent Value.Value pack came with 4 AA rechargeable batteries, recharger, AV cables Software (ArcSoft Total Media Extreme) 2GB SD card, mini tripod and the DXG 567V video camera.This unit takes both video and still photos Plus: records on SD cards up to 16GB cards, Low cost ($30 for me) kit has all the things a person would need to start taking photos and videos Negs: Quality is of the sub $50 type camera. No optical zoom (it does have digital zoom but I would not recommend using it)Overall an excellent value if you can get the value pack for under $40Its a great camera you may want to carry on your person on in your car.I intend to give it to a 6 year old to use
For appearance,ease of use,picture quality,portability and battery life,i would give this cam good ratings.Considering i use rechargable batteries by Sanyo.The problem was that after 3 months of using this camcorder it died on me.If i wanted a disposable camera i'm sure i could have gotten one for alot cheaper.So if you value your money,i would suggest that you add a few bucks extra and purchase a better camera like the Fugi FINEPIX S1500.It's my new baby and she works like magic,far superior than this DXG cam.So sorry DXG, i'm not a product basher,you guys had good intentions when you made this cam.All we ask for is quality & Value for our money and hopefully something that would last at least a year or two.It's that simple.
Although this is not indicated in the manual if you use the toggle you can actually find this feature first it goes to HD then to D1 then to CIF and the final is blank this is where you can take your still photos. The only problem is the sound quality but overall it was a good buy for quick videos. The reviews indicate that still pictures can't be taken on this camcorder. I did not expect the quality of this camera to equal the quality of most camcorders due to the cost but it takes ok pics and video.
YOU'D THINK THAT IF IT CAN TAKE VIDEO, A LESSER FEATURE LIKE PHOTO TAKING WOULD BE PART OF THE DEAL, BUT NO. THAT'S RIGHT, IT CAN ONLY TAKE VIDEO. THAT'S ALL FOLKS.RUN. This is a cool product. Except.IT CANNOT TAKE STILL PHOTOS. IT ONLY CAN DO 3 THINGS - CHANGE BETWEEN 3 RESOLUTIONS, TAKE VIDEO, DELETE VIDEO.
We looked at several similiar camcorders and this is the only one we could find in this price range that was HD. For the quality, you can't beat the price. We ended up buying another one for our son.
